I also looked for a wiki for info about this and tried to google my issue to no avail. P.S.: Yes, I tried different settings in the create a game box, like unchecking 'Run on LAN'. It would suck to have to always be connected to the same router(network) in order to create a closed game for just us.ĭoes anyone have any clue as to how we can create a server(game) for just me and my friends? I really would like to play with my friends when we are each at our own home. So we ended up finding an open server we liked and we just played there, but I much rather have our own little game with BOTs instead of strangers. But when I tried to invite my brother who was at his place, he always got a server not responding error and could not join my game. I just create a server with password and invited him the same way I always invite friends to game via Steam.
Last night, one of those friends came over to my place and we tried the create a server feature where we where able to create games with BOTs and it worked great. Using Notepad or another text editor, create the file C:\servers\GEServer\start.bat. With the files in place, you are now ready to run the server. Then, extract the gesource folder to C:\servers\GEServer\gesource. So, my brother, two of my good friends and myself have installed GoldenEye Source (GES) v5.0 and love it. Grab the Server install archive from the Server Downloads page.
